The Lunch @ DC with Yesim Sayin Taylor

How does the District’s housing stock shape affordability, inclusivity, and the future growth of the District? Yesim Sayin Taylor describes how the D.C. Policy Center constructed a dataset of the District’s housing stock, and shares important findings from their recently published study. For example, many people worry about lack of family housing. But the study of the stock show that the District has many more larger units than families who could live in them; however, affluent singles and couples occupy many of these. The fierce competition for larger units from affluent singles and couples is an important, but often ignored pressure on family housing.
